The Stunners
1. The Stunners (stylized as the Stunners) are an American pop girl group, founded by Vitamin C, comprising of Tinashe Kachingwe, Hayley Kiyoko, Lauren Hudson, Allie Gonino and Marisol Esparza. Their first promotional single was "Bubblegum" which also featured a music video. Their debut single, "Dancin' Around The Truth", featuring New Boyz was released for radio airplay and digital download in June 2010.
After working on their solo careers, the group was orchestrated during a chance recording session with singer, and writer/producer, Colleen "Vitamin C" Fitzpatrick. Six months after forming, the group was signed to Columbia Records. The made their debut on the soundtrack for the first season of iCarly, on the track "Let's Hear It for the Boy" a cover of the 1984 song by Deniece Williams. A single, "Bubblegum" was released to iTunes on March 3, 2009 on Columbia Records and was removed when the girls parted ways with the label. Before parting ways with Columbia Records though, original member Kelsey Sanders left the group due to wanting to pursue her acting career rather than singing, and was replaced by Lauren Hudson.
They then released their five-song, self-titled promotional EP, on the Lionsgate Music label, in October 2009, which has since been removed from online music retailers as to not compete with the new version of the single "Dancin' Around The Truth".
In an interview with AOL JSYK, the girls revealed a scripted TV series was in development for the group, with a pilot ordered by MTV, stating,
"Our series is about us, The Stunners, five very different girlfriends that put together a music group on the brink of making it big in the entertainment world. The show looks at both the glamorous and zany sides of what we do, but really focuses a lot on our friendships, our relationships with boys and all the exciting, yet demanding stuff we do as performers. It's about trying to have it all ... trying to be successful, falling in love, juggling our friends and families and dealing with everyday drama as we step out on our own as adults."
The group released a free holiday single, written by the five girls and produced by Desmond Child titled Santa Bring My Soldier Home in dedicated to the families of people serving in the military. The single was free to download from the group's website as fans were also able to make a donation to the USO when they downloaded the single. An alternate version was released to the iTunes store in December 2009, and later removed in June 2010.
The group parted with Columbia Records and signed with Universal Republic in 2010. Their debut album is set to be released in the first quarter of 2011, preceded by their first single, a new version of "Dancin' Around the Truth" from their EP, featuring hip-hop and jerkin' duo New Boyz. The single was sent to mainstream radio and released on iTunes in June. In May 2010 The Stunners were also announced to be the opening act for Justin Bieber's My World Tour for the first twenty dates. Following the end of their run on the My World Tour, they resumed production on their debut album, which is to include production from The Cataracs, Toby Gad, The Writing Camp, Dave Broome, Livvi Franc and Mike McHenry.
2. The Stunners were an African-American all-girl soul group. They recorded one single for Renfro Records 'Without You' b/w 'Nobody But Me' which is now very rare and highly prized by Northern Soul collectors. Read more on Last.fm.
